THz (terahertz) communications and networks refer to the use of terahertz frequencies, which lie between the microwave and infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum, for wireless communications. This offers the potential for extremely high bandwidths, allowing for data transfer rates that are orders of magnitude faster than current wireless technologies, while guaranteeing deterministic performance in terms of reliability and latency. This allows to replicate the functionality of wired systems and create the opportunity to make wireless networks an integral part of industrial automation.
