The metabolic chamber represents an indispensable element for research on human energy metabolism in both normal and pathological conditions.
It will therefore be indispensable for the design, calibration and validation of multiparametric systems based on wearable biomedical instruments in order to estimate energy metabolism by monitoring vital signs in free-living conditions and to be able to evaluate the application of these technologies on the psycho-physical state and the individual's well-being, stress, lifestyle, etc.
This instrumentation will support the HCS research line, favoring the development of technologies, systems, and design approaches that take into account the characteristics of the individual, and in particular also metabolic aspects, with an impact on safeguarding his state of health and on pathology..
The metabolic chamber is an infrastructure of the Pisan University Hospital (AOUP) and of the DII.
